2020 began so promising. I made my annual January pilgrimage to Lake Placid and then flew off to New Zealand for a six week adventure. But come the end of March, I was sent home (with the rest of the tourists) to pandemic New York. With the gallery shut down during the great pause, l began weekly summits of the Catskill high peaks and reconnected with the mountains. The hikes were mostly not about making pictures but more about releasing energy and covering ground. I did discover some new spots and by the autumn began working them – Hanging Rock Falls in Ellenville my favorite new location to photograph.
