Africa Awakening

My recent photo project in Africa has awakened me to the dire situation facing our planet. Since 1950, 70% of the worlds wildlife has been lost and by 2050 an additional 70% is predicted. Earth is undergoing the sixth great extinction – unlike previous extinction events caused by natural phenomena, the sixth mass extinction is driven by human activity, primarily (though not limited to) the unsustainable use of land, water and energy use, and climate change. The protected parks of Africa represent the last holdout of habitat but even they are threatened each time there is a regime change or discovery of natural resources.
